Coverage Advisor – Overview and Setup

What is a Coverage Advisor?
Coverage Advisor is a feature in Pathway that leverages policy-level coverage data (availability may vary depending on your BMS integration) to identify potential gaps in a client’s coverage.

By analyzing the coverages attached to a policy, Pathway can determine whether a client may be missing important protections. These can vary based on the policy type and may include coverages such as Overland Water, Sewer Backup, or Accident Benefits, among others.

This functionality enables you to proactively identify opportunities to better protect your clients while also supporting cross-sell and upsell initiatives.

Setup Considerations
When configuring Coverage Advisor, it is important to account for the policy type, insurance company, and coverage code. Coverage codes can vary between insurance providers, meaning the same type of coverage may be labeled differently across companies.

For example, Sewer Backup coverage may have unique codes for Wawanesa, Aviva, and Intact. As a result, each variation must be configured individually to ensure accurate detection within Pathway.

How to Set It Up
To begin setting up Coverage Advisor, navigate to any email within Pathway and click Edit Design.

Once inside the editor, click into a content block. A toolbar will appear, where you can select the Merge option to start inserting dynamic coverage data.

Within the dropdown menu, select Coverage Advisor to add coverage-related merge fields.

Click on Add merge tag

Note
Please ensure you choose the name carefully, as it cannot be modified after creation. The name should clearly reflect the purpose of the merge tag.

For example, use a descriptive label such as “Aviva Home – No Sewer Backup” to indicate the specific coverage condition being targeted.

Understanding Coverage Advisor Conditions

When configuring Coverage Advisor, you can define conditions based on whether a coverage is present or missing across properties on a policy. The options work as follows:

Yes, on any property
The message will display if at least one property on the policy includes the specified coverage.

Yes, on all properties
The message will display only if all properties on the policy include the specified coverage.

No, on any property
The message will display if at least one property on the policy is missing the specified coverage.

No, on all properties
The message will display only if all properties on the policy are missing the specified coverage.

This logic allows you to tailor messaging based on whether coverage is fully applied, partially applied, or missing entirely across a client’s policy.
